What a worker is entitled to when someone runs a check on them
A check is about you, so you get a say in it. Here is what that means in practice when a household or a company asks to verify you.
Nothing starts until you agree
You will receive a private link by WhatsApp, or by text message if WhatsApp does not reach you. It opens a short form that names the employer, lists exactly which checks they asked for, and asks you to agree before any of them begin.
You can read it and close it. If you do not agree, nothing runs. If you agree to some checks and not others, say so on the form, and tell the employer directly. Silence is not agreement, and an employer cannot tick the box on your behalf.
The link is yours alone. Never forward it, and never send your NIN or documents to anyone in a chat or a text message.
What the employer actually sees
They see the outcome of the checks they paid for, and nothing else. On identity, that a number matched the name and date of birth you gave. On address, that an agent visited and confirmed you live there. On guarantors, that the person you named answered and stood by you. On previous employment, that a former workplace confirmed you worked there and in what role.
There is no score, no rating and no recommendation to hire or not hire. That judgement is the employer’s, made on facts rather than on a number we invented.
You get your own record
Once you have been verified, you have your own page on Hirably. Sign in and you can see the checks that were run on you, what each one returned, and when. The next employer who asks can be pointed at a check that has already been done rather than starting from scratch.

If an employer files a record about you
A former employer can file a serious matter that was reported to the police, with the case reference attached. When that happens you are told, and you have seven days to give your side before the entry becomes visible to anyone else. Your response is stored with it and shown alongside it, always.
If the entry is wrong, you can contest it with your own evidence. Our team reviews the proof from both sides and removes an entry that does not stand up.
Things nobody may do
No one may charge you for being verified. The employer pays. No one may ask you for your bank details, your card, a BVN or a fee to release a result. No agent may demand money at your gate. And nobody from Hirably will ever call to ask you for a one-time code.
